- 1964 spring, he was born to a tobacco farmer in
Mei-Nung Town.
- 4969 great grandmother passed away; this was the
first time he came into contact with burial rituals
and manifestations of community mobilization.
- 1970 fall, he began his elementary education. Since
then, he knew that the Sun is not the only way to
tell time. There are also clocks and calendars.
- 1973 learned to do simple farming and house chores
like herding cattle, mowing, weeding, cleaning tobacco
shoots, and boiling water.
- 1974 learned to swim.
- 1975 learned how to drive a cattle carriage and
control the temperature of the smoke room.
- 1976 The first time he climbed up to three-story-high
Mango and Longan trees. He was a student at the Mei-Nung
Junior High School then.
- 1977 started to take on responsibilities of heavy
labors like carrying fertilizer and rice straws, and
cleaning cowshed.
- 1978 in fall, he completed his very first poem.
- 1979 entered the Kaohsiung High School and joined
the school volleyball team.
- 1982 farmlands rezoned; He quitted school and went
to a tutor class in Tainan instead, concentrating
himself on reading French poems and Russian novels.
- 1983 entered Cheng-Kung University, Department of
Civil Engineering; He began writing poems in mass
and listening to classical music, rock and roll, jazz,
and blues.
- 1984 met his mentor, Xu Guo-Long. They discussed
music and literature.
- 1986 served his military term in Dong-Ying; His
sister participated in the Lu-Kang Anti-Dupont Movement.
- 1987 his father passed away from excessive exposure
to chemicals; He began writing poems in Hakka language;
His sister participated in workers' movement.
- 1990 participated in researcher - Xu Zheng-Guang's
Small Merchandise Political Economics Study Project
with his sister, and architect, Li Yun-Fei and conducted
farming household interviews in Mei-Nung (Kaohsiung
County) and northern regions of Ping-Tung County.
- 1991 met his wife, Xia Xiao-Juan; Organized the
Seventh Team Workstation and Liu Dui (Six Villages)
Hakka Summer Camp.
- 1992 graduated from Tam-Kung University, self study
Archeology, and returned to Mei-Nung to organize the
Mei-Nung Reservoir Public Hearing.
- 1993 participated in the Kaohsiung County Development
Project, hosted by the Graduate School of Architecture
and Planning, National Taiwan University; Went to
the legislature in Taipei for the first time to petition
for removal of reservoir budget; joined the International
Rivers Network.
- 1994 involved in editing work for Mei-Nung Magazine,
Kaohsiung County Documentation Series, and Tao-Yuan
County's Lung-Tam Village Folk Chronicles; employed
as a substitute teacher at the Mei-Nung County Nan-Lung
Junior High School; Organized the Mei-Nung People's
Organization; petitioned at the Legislature for the
second time to appeal for removal of the reservoir
budget of the year; received the Rotary Ambassador
Scholarship from the International Rotary Club and
started his studies at the Graduate School of Social
Studies, University of Florida.
- 1995 went to Indonesian outskirt islands to conduct
sociological surveys on the subject of "Foreign
Brides"; Set up literacy classes for foreign
brides in Mei-Nung area.
- 1996 visited Chili's women's movement organizations
and Neruda's residence; completed his graduate study
and returned to Taiwan to take over the Chairman position
of the Mei-Nung People's Organization.
- 1997 participated in the Anti-Bing-Nan Industrial
Park Movement and Kao-Ping River - River and Rainwater
Resource Reservation Movement; Participated in the
Nation-wide Community Expo held in I-Lan and was elected
to become the contact person for the National Community
Organizations United; Invited to share his experiences
in community development with community organizations
and universities.
- 1998 investigated international NGOs' community
assistance work in the Philippines, Cambodia, and
Thailand; began writing lyrics for the album - Folk
Songs of Hakka.
- 1999 cleaned out his family tobacco attic with guitarist,
Lin Sheng-Xiang, and started the Seventh Team Tobacco
Attic Studio and Labor Exchange Band; Founded the
Streaming (Zhuan-Lian ) Audio Publishing Co. and independently
published the album - Folk Songs of Hakka; Joined
the Fourth Hao-Ran Camp in the US; Employed as a Secretary
in Kaohsiung County Government, Office of Secretariat.
- 2000 organized and trained 921 Disaster Area Aboriginal
Community Workers, in conjunction with Shih Shin University,
Graduate School of Social Development; Won Golden
Melody Award for the Best Lyrics in the Non-popular
Music Category, and the album was also nominated for
Best Production and Best Album; reappointed as the
Director of the Department of Waterworks; invited
to plan the itinerary for Hao-Ran 2000 Camp's visit
to the disaster-stricken areas.
- 2001 invited to take the Chief Secretary position
for the Council for Hakka Affairs, Executive Yuan.
- 2002 took the positions as the Director of the Office
of Information and Secretary in Chief in Tainan County
Government.
